Creating the Living Gallery Together: Community Potluck & Butterfly Art Day

from $1.00

Monday, December 8 | Snyder Park Children’s Garden
In the Living Gallery,an Art History in the Park Initiative

10:30AM- 1PM

Join us for a joyful day of creativity, connection, and celebration as we wrap up our fall season together!

We’ll gather in Snyder Park’s Children’s Garden to enjoy hands-on artmaking, shared food, and a very special opportunity to help install several new pieces in our evolving Living Gallery—a collaborative outdoor art space built by children and families throughout our workshops. The Living Gallery is part of Snyder Park’s Circle of Life experience and continues to grow each season as a reflection of community, creativity, and care. It’s not a static exhibition, but a living, breathing space that invites participation and evolves over time.

Here’s what to expect:

🦋 Create & Plant Butterfly Art
Using vibrant crayon-shaving art from past workshops, children will transform their work into butterfly shapes, glue them to garden sticks, and “plant” them throughout the space—adding a joyful, temporary butterfly meadow to the garden.

🛠️ Gallery Install Help & Viewing
Families are invited to assist with or observe the installation of several new gallery pieces created during our fall workshops—contributing to a space that lives on for others to enjoy.

🌿 Butterfly Garden Tour with Joan
Take a guided stroll through the Butterfly Garden, learn about its native plants and pollinators, and help select a special plant or two to personalize and contribute to the space.

🥗 Family Potluck Picnic
Bring a dish to share and enjoy a relaxed, community meal under the trees with fellow AHP families.

Support the Living Gallery
Proceeds from this gathering help fund future Living Gallery materials and installations—allowing us to continue building this community-created space together.

Since this is a history program, here’s a little history of our own:

The Living Gallery has been in the works behind the scenes for the past two years. Leesa—our amazing volunteer and the creative force behind the AHP website—has been dreaming it into being with me since the beginning. With the care and encouragement of Joan, Cedric, and Todd at Snyder Park, this vision is finally taking root as part of the Circle of Life initiative.

I’m so excited to share this moment with you and grateful for the many hands and hearts that have made it possible.

Let’s build something lasting and beautiful—together.
